FAQ - Refrigerator Filter

1. Original filter against a replacement filter?

An original water filter is a filter that carries the manufacturer's logo ( Samsung, LG, Whirlpool ...) and that comes with your new American refrigerator. An adaptable water filter, compatible or called universal, and a filter that has the same characteristics and capacity as an American refrigerant filter, original but sold at a more competitive price.

Sometimes the name of the manufacturer is not indicated on the filter and / or packaging.
We sell both original water filters and adaptable filters for all US refrigerators.

2. Do I have to buy a water filter of the same brand as my original filter?

No not necessarily. There are roughly ten models of filters for American fridge of origin and as much model of adaptable filter.
Major brands such as Samsung , Whirlpool , LG , Bosch , often use the same water filters as the adaptable ones with their own logo.
When choosing your filter for your American refrigerator, it is important to make sure that the installation process is the same as well as the filtration power.

3. What is the life of a filter? / How long do I have to change my water filter?

It is recommended by most manufacturers to replace your water filter every 6 months (this may vary according to the recommendations of the filter manufacturer and / or American refrigerator).
Of course, if you exceed the capacity of use of the filter, you will have to change it as quickly as possible. In any case, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for replacing your filter for your American refrigerator.

4. Why does the filter in my American fridge need to be changed approximately every 6 months?

The filter adsorbs and retains pollutants in the water. Like any filter, its filtration capacity decreases and thus reduces the flow of water.
If you use the filter for a longer time than expected, new bacteria may start to develop in the filter, and therefore in the water of your American refrigerator.
The same goes for your ice cube dispenser.

5. I do not often use the water from my fridge, do I still need to change the filter regularly?

Yes, as explained above, the water filter for any American refrigerator (Samsung, Whirlpool, LG, Siemens ...) must be changed every 6 months, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
Some us refrigerator manufacturers recommend changing the water filter, even if the water and ice dispenser is not used regularly or for several weeks.

6. Is there an expiry date for fridge filters?

No. All US refrigerator filters we sell can be stored without limit.
Of course you must respect some instructions like, do not unpack the filter, do not store the filter with moisture or frost ... In short, you just have to leave the filter in its original packaging and put it in a cupboard of your house.

7. Does my American refrigerator have an internal or external water filter?

To find out if your water filter is internal, look at the following places:

  • Inside the refrigerator, hanging vertically in the top right corner.
  • Inside the fridge, under a plastic case, and installed horizontally at the top right or left.
  • Under the door of the freezer compartment.

If you can not find it inside, your external filter should be

outside your fridge, along the water supply pipe of your American refrigerator either behind or behind the baseboard.
